Work Hours: Monday - Friday ;  8:00am-2:45pm 

The Teaching Assistant will work in a classroom setting to provide additional support and assistance to students. The primary responsibilities will be to help the teacher or student with instructional tasks, monitor student progress, and contribute to the overall learning environment.

  • Assist and supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times, including supporting students' use of available instructional resources and materials.

  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students on tasks, projects or assignments

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback through the use of the school-wide behavior management system for instructional and non-instructional activities.

  • Help maintain an organized and engaging classroom environment

  • Assist with data collection, record keeping or other tasks related to classroom activities

  • Communicate regularly with the teacher to provide information about students and support behavioral and instructional goals

  • Collaborate with a team to develop, implement and review support plans for students

  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and records

  • Participate in staff development and training to maintain or develop increased professional knowledge

  • Other duties as assigned

Teaching Assistant (Career & Technical Education)

Number of Positions: Continuous Recruitment

Salary:  $22,566 - $34,577 commensurate with experience

Locations: Sites at Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls and F. Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga Springs

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am-2:45pm

The Teaching Assistant will provide instructional and other support to teachers and students in CTE programs. CTE programs focus on preparing high school students for careers in fields like technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and more. Your role will be to assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging, hands-on lessons that help students develop the skills and knowledge they need for success in their chosen career path. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and preparing CTE lesson plans, activities, and course materials;

  • Help facilitate classroom and lab instruction, working one-on-one or in small groups with students;

  • Monitor and support students as they work on projects, labs, and other hands-on learning activities;

  • Record and keep records, and help maintain the CTE classroom/lab environment;

  • Provide tutoring, mentoring, and other acadmic support to help students succeed;

  • Communicate with students, parents, and other school staff ad needed;

  • Attend CTE-related professional development workshops and training as needed;

  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students;

  • Participate in staff development and training to maintain or develop increased professional capacity;

  • Other duties as assigned.
