Location: Glens Falls & Saratoga

Under the general supervision of the designated Principal or Supervisor, the incumbent organizes escort responsibilities and maintains discipline and control over students within the school.  This position differs from other positions dealing with children in school districts in that it calls for intensive involvement with students who are involved in educational programs for troubled students.  Does related work as required.

  • Monitors interactions among students and intervenes when a situation requires it (e.g. when a disagreement between students seems to be escalating into a physical altercation);
  • Provides crisis prevention and intervention where appropriate;
  • Assists staff in crisis prevention;
  • Participates as a member of staff in school meetings;
  • Records and maintains routine records and logs of student incident reports and provides reports as requested by the Principal;
  • Assists teachers and staff, both in and out of the classroom, which may include, but not limited to, monitoring students during field trips, assemblies and school functions;
  • Modeling specific intervention strategies and techniques to be used with children, including techniques for decreasing inappropriate behaviors and increasing socially accepted behaviors;
  • Escorts students and monitors the movement of students between classes and other areas within the school facility and grounds.
