The Special Education Teacher (BEARS) does the following:

• Plans and implements student-centered practices that build on student assets and is culturally responsive to promote development of the whole child;

• Plans classroom instruction through adapting methods, materials and technology to meet students' individual needs and that are based in best practices for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder;

• Provides specially designed instruction for students' academic, social, emotional and behavior needs utilizing structured teaching methods that provides external supports for attention and executive functioning and visuals to supplement and support communication;

• Creates an environment to support student's total communication needs;

• Collaborates with team members including related service providers and classroom staff to develop, implement and monitor IEP accommodations, modifications, supports and goals;

• Directs classroom staff in the daily instruction and support of students;

• Evaluates and reports on students' progress at designated intervals according to school procedures;

• Operates under school policies, procedures, and regulations;

• Participates in the development of curriculum and programs;

• Serves as case manager for assigned students;

• Collaborates with families, outside providers and CSE;

• Other duties as assigned.

The work of the Principal Account Clerk involves responsibility for planning, assigning and supervising major account keeping activities and/or independently performing difficult and responsible account keeping functions.  The work is performed under general direction and in accordance with outlined policies and procedures, with considerable leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment for carrying out the details of the work.  Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinates. Does related work as required.

• Plans, assigns and reviews the maintaining and checking of a wide variety of financial records and reports and instructs employees in the specialized details of the work;
• Oversees and assists in the classification of a complex variety of receipts and expenditures and the distribution of costs according to prescribed codes;
• Directs the audit of varied accounts, claims and records and the preparation of reports thereon;
• Has charge of the compilation, preparation and analysis of a variety of complex financial and statistical records and reports;
• Assists in the preparation of annual operating budgets and insures the maintenance of necessary financial controls;
• Takes receipt and accounts for money related to a variety of bills, taxes and related obligations;
• Revises, organizes, systematizes and installs account keeping methods and procedures;
• Reconciles ledgers of revenue received with bank statements;
• Conducts correspondence in connection with financial matters;
• May supervise the preparation of purchase orders and the securing of bids from vendors;
• May have charge of preparation of payroll and allied payroll functions including Health And Dental Insurance;
• May prepare and process, or supervise the preparation and processing of payments and reports relative to employee benefits such as insurances, labor unions, credit unions, and pension funds;
• May be responsible for the preparation of all civil service functions;
• May assist in onboarding and offboarding functions;
• May assist in the management of archives.

The Graphic and Visual Communications Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging lessons to students in a two-year NYSED approved CTE program, aligned with industry standards.

• Deliver comprehensive instruction in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, on Apple hardware;

• Teach core principles of design theory, art history, and the influence of landmark designer;

• Facilitate hands-on industry-specific project work, including digital photography and basic video production;

• Prepare students for the workforce by teaching "professional skills" such as building, maintaining, and growing client relationships;

• Maintain an industry-standard lab environment, ensuring students are proficient in “technical skills” such as in computer literacy and Apple OS;

• Collaborate with the work-based learning coordinator to oversee student internships and industry partnerships to provide real-world exposure;

• Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles;

• Prepare students for certification exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests;

• Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

• Stay current with teaching methodologies and industry trends in relevant CTE fields;

• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community;

• Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

The HVAC instructor is responsible for teaching HVAC courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting. Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to gain/increase skills in the area of HVAC.

• Ensures adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and materials. 

• Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor student’s performance. 

• Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group or individualized instruction as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains. 

• Create a climate that encourages and supports learning. 

• Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records

Delivery of Health Services

• Protecting and maintaining students' health by providing professional nursing services in accordance with Nursing Standards and NYS Licensing. 

• Providing NY State-mandated and annual screening programs including vision, hearing, weight and scoliosis. 

• Facilitating NY State-mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements.

• Identifying and assessing students’ health needs, implementing services, and evaluating plans of care which impact student learning and achievement or safety.

• Participating as members of the school’s multidisciplinary team, interpreting medical data and writing objectives for the health component of the IEP and/or 504 plan. 

• Acting as liaison between home and school, and community providers for medical issues, including visiting students at home.

• Identifying and reporting school building safety or environmental issues which impact student or staff health to the building administrator. 

• Participating as members of the school’s Emergency Management, Health and Safety and Crisis Response Teams.

• Prepares and maintains health records for students, including reports as needed.

• Arranges for transportation of a sick or injured student or staff member to hospital, physician's office, or home, in cases of emergencies. 

• Communicate concerns related to student and staff health and safety to appropriate staff and administration.

Information Management

• Documenting health services provided in accordance with the NYS Nurse Practice Act.

• Maintaining current pertinent health data for each student by periodic review and documentation on the individual student electronic and paper health records.

• Completing student and staff insurance/accident reports.

• Initiating and documenting health surveillance programs as needed and recording, compiling and reporting aggregate student health information as required by NYS Department of Health.

• Preparing and monitoring the Health Office budget.

Health Education

• Promoting an environment that is positive, student-centered, and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners.

• Providing staff and community educational opportunities as needed.

Professional Development/Community Involvement

• Developing and pursuing individual professional growth plans which may include: in-service workshops, graduate courses, conferences and collegial learning.
