Heavy Equipment Instructor (CTE)

Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00A-2:45P

The Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance Instructor is responsible for teaching heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and repair theory along with hands-on skills to students enrolled in the Career and Technical Education program. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the Heavy Equipment field and for industry certification exams.

 

  • Develop and deliver curriculum covering heavy equipment systems, safety protocols, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.

  • Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology and supervise hands-on lab activities and ensure safety protocols are followed;

  • Stay current with Heavy Equipment industry trends and technological advancements and collaborate with local Heavy Equipment businesses for internship and job placement opportunities;

  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, labs, quizzes, exams, and practical skills exams;

  • Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles;

  • Prepare students for NCCER Certification, Industrial Lift Truck Certification and Commercial Drivers License exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests;

  • Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field;

  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community;

  • Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

Licensed Practical Nurse

Salary: $26,220 - $35,677, commensurate with experience

Location: Sanford Street TLC, Glens Falls with some travel to Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls

Work Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00A-2:30P

The Licensed Practical Nurse assists school nursing staff by performing routine health-related tasks to aid in the healthcare needs of students while under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. 

  • Administers emergency first aid when necessary;
  • May assist or self-direct students to take assigned medications per the school district policy;
  • Follows established procedures for the care and reporting of injuries and illnesses and files accident reports and insurance claims;
  • Assists school physicians and/or a nurse in physical, visual, auditory, and scoliosis examinations of students and employees and in making referrals to parents resulting from screening procedures and physical examinations;
  • Selects, files, and records information on cumulative health records and reviews student records to obtain selected health information for use by school nurses;
  • Performs attendance tasks and readmits students following absences;
  • Assists school nurses in preparing health displays for the purpose of disseminating health and wellness information to students, staff, and the community;
  • Maintains schedules for various screening and appraisal programs;
  • Does related work as required. 

 

 

 

Custodians

Locations: Saratoga/Wilton

Work Hours: Monday - Friday ; 3pm - 11pm

This work involves cleaning and maintenance of school buildings or assigned sections thereof.  In addition to routine cleaning activities, the work includes semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks and various ground-keeping activities.  General supervision is received from a designated senior or higher level custodial employee.  Immediate supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate cleaning and maintenance.

  • Sweeps, mops and waxes floors, washes walls, windows and blackboards, cleans erasers, dusts and performs other cleaning duties;

  • Cleans and mops lavatories and locker rooms;

  • Removes snow and ice from walks, steps and driveways;

  • Replaces light bulbs, towels, soap and other supplies;

  • Empties waste baskets and disposes of rubbish;

  • May mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves and perform other ground-keeping tasks as assigned;

  • Makes minor repairs to furniture, electrical fixtures, windows and window shades, locks, faucets and other equipment;

  • Receives, moves and stores incoming school supplies;

  • Polishes and refinishes furniture;

  • Turns off lights and locks doors;

  • Performs a variety of errands and related custodial tasks.

A Teacher Aide is employed for positions which are created for the main purpose of relieving schoolteachers of that part of their duties, which, while related to the teaching process, can be performed by non-professional personnel.  Teacher Aides may not perform the teaching duties of regular teachers, even if they hold a teaching license or certificate.  The duties of this class differ from those of School Monitor due to the more complex nature of the assignments that are performed.  The duties of School Monitor are generally quite limited in scope, whereas those of a teacher's aide often require specific skills or abilities.  The work is performed under the general supervision of an administrator or a member of the teaching staff.  Does related work as required.

  • Assisting in the preparation of classroom materials;

  • Supporting student(s) with individual needs, including behavioral management and physical care tasks;

The Teaching Assistant will provide instructional and other support to teachers and students in CTE programs. CTE programs focus on preparing high school students for careers in fields like technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and more. Your role will be to assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging, hands-on lessons that help students develop the skills and knowledge they need for success in their chosen career path. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and preparing CTE lesson plans, activities, and course materials;

  • Help facilitate classroom and lab instruction, working one-on-one or in small groups with students;

  • Monitor and support students as they work on projects, labs, and other hands-on learning activities;

The Speech Language Pathologist will assess and treat students who have speech, language, social communication or other disorders.

  • Provide speech and language therapy in an individual or group setting.

  • Conduct speech-language services based on goals and objectives outlined in child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP);

  • Collaborate and consult with teachers and other related service providers (such as, but not limited to, OT, PT, AT, TVI);

  • Responsible for teaching Basic Residential Wiring and/or Advanced Residential Wiring courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting.

  • Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to gain/increase skills in the area of Residential Wiring.

  • Responsible for teaching all elements of house wiring, laws of electricity, building codes, wiring, testing and troubleshooting (Basic)
