The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Integrated English Language Arts (ELA) Instructor is responsible for coordinating, developing and delivering a curriculum that seamlessly blends ELA skills with technical content across various CTE programs. This role requires a unique ability to contextualize language arts within real-world, career-focused scenarios, enhancing students' literacy skills while preparing them for future careers.

 

  • Design and implement an integrated curriculum that aligns ELA standards with CTE content areas

  • Collaborate with CTE instructors to identify opportunities for incorporating reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills into technical coursework

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that engage students in both ELA and CTE concepts

  • Assess student progress in ELA skills within the context of their chosen CTE program

  • Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles;

  • Prepare students for certification exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests;

  • Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

  • Stay current with both ELA teaching methodologies and industry trends in relevant CTE fields

  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community;

  • Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

  • Other duties as assigned.

ELA Special Education Teacher

Salary:$50,678-$71,564, commensurate with experience

Location : F. Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga

Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 8-2:45

  • Plans and implements student-centered, evidenced-based instructional practices that build on student assets and is culturally responsive to promote development of the whole child;

  • Provides specially designed instruction and interventions for students' academic, social, emotional and behavior needs;

  • Collaborates with team members including related service providers and classroom staff to develop, implement and monitor IEP accommodations, modifications, supports and goals;

  • Plans classroom instruction through adapting methods, materials and technology to meet students' individual needs and abilities;

  • Utilizes classroom management strategies and positive behavior interventions andsupports to promote student growth in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making ;

  • Evaluates and reports on students' progress at designated intervals according to school procedures;

  • Operates under school policies, procedures, and regulations;

  • Participates in the development of curriculum and programs, including school wide activities and program debriefs;

  • Participates in collaborative problem-solving and planning with colleagues;

  • Serves as case manager for assigned students;

  • Collaborates with families, outside providers and CSE

  • Other duties as assigned.

School Social Worker

Work Hours: Monday - Friday ; TBD

A certified School Social Worker provides individual and group counseling for students to support their social, emotional and behavioral needs that interfere with their ability to access and perform in school.  The LMSW or LCSW will facilitate communication between home, school and community partners. The School Social Worker must have working knowledge of: the principals, practices and ethical standards of School Social Work; the relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; current knowledge of the community resources and support systems available to assist students and their families; and the ability to deal effectively and appropriately with colleagues, students, parents and other educational professionals regarding student concerns and problems.

  • Provides individual and group counseling according to students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address the social/emotional/behavioral needs that interfere with students’ learning or the ability of others to learn

  • Collaborates with school personnel in developing and implementing effective social and behavioral interventions for students

  • Facilitates and collaborates with Functional Behavior Assessments & Behavior Intervention plans focused on developing prosocial skills that allow students to access and participate in the educational setting.

  •  Coordinates home, school and community resources to help prevent and address crisis situations

  • Communicates with staff, administration and parents concerning students’ social, emotional and behavioral progress

  •  Consults and collaborates with social services, mental health agencies and other community providers

  •  Participates in the professional community by communicating regularly with administration and staff, assisting with problem-solving around student issues, and maintaining appropriate training and professional development.

Special Education Teacher (Biology Content)

Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls, NY 

Work Hours: Monday- Friday ; 8:00A - 2:45P

The Biology Special Education Teacher does the following:

Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Sanford Street TLC, Glens Falls

Work Hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00A-3:00P

The Speech teacher will assess and treat students who have speech, language, social communication or other disorders.

  • Provide speech and language therapy in an individual or group setting.

  • Conduct speech-language services based on goals and objectives outlined in child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP);

  • Collaborate and consult with teachers and other related service providers (such as, but not limited to, OT, PT, AT, TVI);

  • Maintain an organized system of documentation for students’ records;

  • Complete data collection and reporting activities at designated intervals, including quarterly reports and during Annual Review meetings;

  • Assist in organizing, modifying, and implementing curriculum to meet students’ needs. 

  • Assist in selecting appropriate technology and materials for students;

  • Be familiar with and cooperate with school policies and regulations;

  • Cooperate as fully as possible with professional and non-professional staff members of this organization and other school districts in conjunctive activities;

  • And other such duties as assigned.
