The work involves responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the technical installation and repair work performed by the Technology Services Department located at Washington, Saratoga, Warren, Hamilton, Essex BOCES (WSWHE BOCES), including administrative, budgeting and purchasing duties. The work involves the supervision of technical staff engaged in the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of technology solutions such as; A/V display systems, classroom interactive flat panels, projectors and physical security system components and associated cabling. The work also includes the implementation of the budget for the department and monitoring of expenditures as well as the carrying out of purchasing duties for the department and performance of inventory control responsibilities. This position bears direct responsibility for job scheduling, inventory control and managing the department's budget. Additionally, the Supervisor is expected to act as a technical resource person for various WSWHE BOCES departments. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Technology and Instructional Support Services with the expectation of independent judgment being used to carry out the work of the department. Direct supervision is exercised over the work of all technical personnel in the unit and subordinate clerical support staff. Does related work as required.
- Oversees the work of installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of sophisticated audio-visual equipment;
- Assigns work to subordinate technicians and oversees the installation, repair and maintenance of a/v display systems (projectors, interactive flat panel displays, etc.);
- Oversees the installation, maintenance and repair of school district network cabling to facilitate the connection of a wide variety of networked devices;
- Provides input in the development of the budget for the A/V Installation Services Department;
- Plans for the allocation of budget funds, and monitors expenditures;
- Performs the financial reporting activities for the department;
- Serves as manager of projects assigned to the Department;
- Maintains inventory records and makes purchases, including the completion of purchase orders;
- Advises WSWHE BOCES and component school district personnel regarding services performed by the center such as new installations;
- Responsible for compiling all related reports required by the WSWHE BOCES Administration;
- Supervises the inventory of repair parts, service manuals, diagnostic aides and test equipment needed to maintain the equipment in operating condition.
