The role of the Technology Funding Specialist is to manage the various funding streams available to school districts and BOCES for the procurement of technology resources. These may include Federal programs such as the various E-rate categories and state funding sources such as grants or other special programs. In addition, this role will assist with the management of the BOCES Learning Technology budgets, specifically related to purchasing of hardware and software for component school districts. This includes the processing of lease requests reviewing payment of invoices and managing billings to districts and internal departments within BOCES. Work is performed under the general direction of department supervisors with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
- Monitor current expenditures to ensure compliance with established budgetary constraints;
- Support BOCES Learning Technology leadership in development and maintenance of annual budget creation and administration;
- Formulate and implement processes and procedures for billing school districts and internal departments within BOCES on a monthly basis. This includes submission of billing documentation to the business office each month;
- Review invoices for component school districts and BOCES, including submitting payment notices, documentation and related communications to the business office;
- Document BOCES and district budget adjustments, communicate changes, and request district approval with appropriate parties;
- Coordinate with the business office to complete budget adjustments;
- Research industry best practices related to leveraging federal and state funding sources and participate in professional organizations and/or conferences related to school district technology funding;
- Develop communication channels with component school districts and vendors;
- Develop clear timelines and workflows for component school districts and the BOCES to streamline the process of applying for federal or state funding;
- Assist Learning Technology Department staff with procurement process and asset tracking for technology hardware and software;
- Works with component school districts and the business office on reviewing, processing and tracking lease requests.

Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration or related field, and two (2) years of purchasing and/or procurement experience; OR

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and four (4) years of purchasing and/or procurement experience.
