This is a technical position responsible for the design, administration, maintenance, and overall operational status of computer networks. Duties will also include the installation, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing support of WAN/LAN hardware, and the supervision of the same. The employee works under the general supervision of WSWHE BOCES Learning Technologies Coordinator and performs related work as assigned.
- Provide for primary support of the implementation of the Local Area Networks, District Area Networks, and Wide Area Networks of the BOCES and its client districts.

Install, configure and maintain LAN/WAN hardware; Routers, servers, single and multi-layer switches, etc.

Working with other system engineers, programmers, analysts, technicians, administrators, and representatives of the user community in the design testing and evaluation of systems.

Configure and deploy software on network.

Update and maintain servers, both physical and virtual.

Analyze and take corrective action to resolve network problems involving computers and data communications hardware and software using appropriate analyzing tools.

Design and implementation of voice over internet protocol communications systems

Diagnose and resolve network hardware problems and perform necessary maintenance, including repairing or replacing voice equipment, peripheral equipment, switches, and wiring
- Manages VOlP and Cisco Video Infrastructure

Manages the Security and Surveillance Infrastructure
- Research, evaluate, and develop solutions to current and future network technology needs.

Evaluate new technologies, hardware and software as required to fulfill the needs of the BOCES and its clients
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technology for computer network hardware and software.

Attend professional training seminars/conferences as directed

Utilize printed or electronic materials as pertinent and available
- Participate in special Learning Technology projects

Work with other staff members in deploying and/or maintaining computer networking technologies

Attend monthly and/or semi-annual meetings with Learning Tech or SSS focus groups as directed
- Support services include:Design, installation, and maintenance of Local Area Networks, District Area Networks, and Wide Area NetworksDesign, implementation, and support of the client/server architecture, Microsoft AD, Novell NDS, etc.Implementation of network security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, etc.

Installation and support of routed and switched networks; deployment, configuration, monitoring of network statistics, and analysis of network traffic patterns.

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered 2 year college with a Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field and four years of experience in networking technologies; OR

Industry certified network training program with specialization in networking strategies, network architecture, equipment protocols, and capacity planning and four years of experience in networking technologies, OR

Four years paid full-time experience in networking technologies, OR

Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A-C above.
