Location: Wilton and Various Districts, some travel required, (onsite, no remote option)
Work Hours: Monday–Friday; 7:30A-3:30P
This position is responsible for providing resources and professional development to school districts under the jurisdiction of BOCES in the integration of technology into classroom curriculum and instruction through the Model Schools Program. An incumbent evaluates the technology planning and professional development needs of component school districts and the BOCES. In addition, an incumbent manages the Model Schools Program budgeting process and supervises the Model School support staff and instructional staff. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Lead Coordinator for Model Schools with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work.
- Coordinate the WSWHE BOCES Model Schools Program, including the facilitation of component school district long range technology planning as required by Commissioner’s regulations. Independently initiate projects determined by district request or area of need to the Model Schools Program.
- Provide assistance to local school districts and BOCES in planning technology-related professional development for administrators, teachers and staff in component school districts and the BOCES
- Develop strategies for marketing of regional professional development offerings at the Ballard Conference Facility and other locations based on district need or request.
- Facilitate quarterly stakeholder meetings (e.g. Ed Tech Coaches Roundtable) for the purpose of seeking district feedback on program quality and gathering data on regional professional development requests.
- Represent BOCES at the quarterly NYS Model Schools Meetings, with the goal of seeking a leadership role in this organization. Attend and present at the annual NYSCATE as a representative of the BOCES.
- Provide training on emerging technologies at component districts upon request. This includes presentations and trainings at Superintendent Conference Days, faculty meetings and other designated professional development days.
- Assume responsibility for the Model Schools budget development and management process.
- Master’s degree in Teaching or Educational Technology
- Experience as a classroom teacher (at least 2 years)
- Holds appropriate Administrative certification, SAS, SDA, SBL or SDL or is enrolled in an Educational
- Leadership program in New York State and qualified for an internship waiver.
- Experience in providing high-quality presentations/training to large and small groups
- Experience with emerging models of classroom instruction such as Remote and Hybrid Learning, Blended Learning, BYOD and 1-1 computing initiatives, etc.
- Google Certifications for Level 1 and 2 as well as Certified Trainer, preferred.
- Knowledge of NYSED Technology Planning process.
- Comfort level with social media and online newsletters as marketing tools.
