Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00A-2:45P
The Special Education Teacher (BEARS) does the following:

Plans and implements student-centered practices that build on student assets and is culturally responsive to promote development of the whole child;

Plans classroom instruction through adapting methods, materials and technology to meet students' individual needs and that are based in best practices for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder;

Provides specially designed instruction for students' academic, social, emotional and behavior needs utilizing structured teaching methods that provides external supports for attention and executive functioning and visuals to supplement and support communication;

Creates an environment to support student's total communication needs;

Collaborates with team members including related service providers and classroom staff to develop, implement and monitor IEP accommodations, modifications, supports and goals;

Directs classroom staff in the daily instruction and support of students;

Evaluates and reports on students' progress at designated intervals according to school procedures;

Operates under school policies, procedures, and regulations;
-
Participates in the development of curriculum and programs;
-
Serves as case manager for assigned students;

Collaborates with families, outside providers and CSE;
-
Other duties as assigned.
