Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00A-2:45P
** This position is a term appointment following the School Calendar, available September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. **
The Graphic and Visual Communications Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging lessons to students in a two-year NYSED approved CTE program, aligned with industry standards.

Deliver comprehensive instruction in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, on Apple hardware;

Teach core principles of design theory, art history, and the influence of landmark designer;

Facilitate hands-on industry-specific project work, including digital photography and basic video production;

Prepare students for the workforce by teaching "professional skills" such as building, maintaining, and growing client relationships;

Maintain an industry-standard lab environment, ensuring students are proficient in “technical skills” such as in computer literacy and Apple OS;

Collaborate with the work-based learning coordinator to oversee student internships and industry partnerships to provide real-world exposure;

Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles;

Prepare students for certification exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests;

Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

Stay current with teaching methodologies and industry trends in relevant CTE fields;

Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community;

Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

Other duties as assigned.

NYS Classroom Teacher Certification in Visual Arts; or
-
NYS Classroom Teacher Certification in Technology Education; or
-
Candidates who do not hold the following certification(s), but have the appropriate industry experience
and/or degree are encouraged to apply. All applicant credentials will be reviewed by WSWHE BOCES
Regional Certification Officer.

NYS CTE Certification in Commercial Art 7-12; or
-
NYS CTE Certification in Media Communications 7-12; or
- Eligible for certification based on relevant industry experience (4 years minimum or 2 years minimum with related degree) The selected candidate will receive guidance from the Regional Certification Officer at WSWHE BOCES.
