Salary: $90,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience

Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls

Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00AM - 4:00PM

This position resides in BOCES and provides program management to support the planning, development, and supervision of the Adult Practical Nursing Program, Teaching Staff and Adult Students.  Supervised by the Director of CTE with considerable leeway for independent decision-making within the framework of program guidelines.  Performs related duties as required.

  • Provides leadership for the development and implementation of the curriculum with faculty to promote orderly and comprehensive delivery of instruction to students; 
  • Provides leadership for continuous curriculum and program review to meet current health practices; 
  • Establishes a schedule for class and clinic time and makes recommendations to the Director for staff assignments; 
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with clinical facilities;
  • Develops and implements, in consultation with the staff, all program goals for clinical experiences at each site;
  • Provides technical nursing knowledge & support to ensure the PN Program is administered according to State, Federal and BOCES guidelines;
  • Arranges the administration of the entrance and exit exams;
  • Coordinates and oversees the new student orientation sessions during the enrollment process as well as individual meetings with new students;
  • Maintains a high level of communication with the Director and Building Principals and communicates with faculty members at regularly conducted meetings and follows up on issues;
  • Develops and maintains vendor affiliations for books, uniforms, and misc. supplies; 
  • Communicates with faculty at regularly conducted meetings and follows up appropriately on issues;
  • Provides technical nursing knowledge in the recruitment, interviewing and selection process of candidates for PN Program;
  • Contributes to, promotes, and publicizes, the PN Program, utilizing the services of the BOCES Communications team for public relations materials;
  • Assists with monitoring of enrollment data for the PN Program to ensure appropriate staffing;
  • Responds to calls and questions from the public regarding the PN program;
  • Recommends programmatic policies and assists with adherence to budgetary planning related to the PN Program; 
  • Counsels students throughout the program to insure positive outcomes;
  • Organizes and supervises PN activities, including capping ceremonies, campus graduations, open houses, consultant committee meetings etc.
  • Provides and maintains accurate records as required by Federal, State, and BOCES guidelines (e.g., State Board results, post-graduation follow-up, IPEDS etc.)
  • Makes recommendations for successful program graduates to be admitted to the New York State Licensing examination;
  • Completes and submits annual reports and 2 PG forms to the Office of Professions;
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date inventory of materials and equipment assigned to the PN Program for allocations and budget development;
  • May provide technical assistance and consult with the Registered Nurses assigned to BOCES programs;
  • Supervises Instructional Staff assigned to the program, orients and trains staff regarding BOCES policies and procedures;
  • Coordinates staff assignments and implements procedures to ensure the staff work as a cohesive team;
  • Performs staff performance reviews, ensuring the appropriate delivery of curriculum and makes recommendations for continued employment;
  • Manages student discipline as necessary beyond that in the classroom and clinical settings;
  • Develops budget in collaboration with the Director of CTE; 
  • May assist in the classroom and or clinical settings on a very limited basis.

Job Qualifications
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Administration or Nursing and possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with (1) one year of instructional experience as a Teacher or Nurse educator with some supervisory experience.
