Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:30A-3:30P
This position involves responsibility for coordinating a variety of functions related to fiscal planning and budgeting activities. The incumbent works with school administrators to estimate costs for program implementation and the development of budgets to meet those needs. The incumbent also monitors current expenditures to ensure compliance with established budgetary constraints. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer or other higher level administrator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment within the limits of established laws and policies. Does related work as required.
- Collects financial data for analysis and prepares cost reports, budgetary forecasts and programmatic or division specific analysis reports for use in determining current financial status;
- Meets regularly with administrative personnel to review current financial data;
- Prepares multi-year reports pertaining to state aid received, surplus funds and expenditures incurred by component school districts;
- Analyses personal services costs and prepares reports detailing the costs of salaries and benefits paid to personnel for use in negotiations with professional staff and organized labor;
- Oversees the processing of financial transactions, such as budget transfers and cost allocations;
- Assists central administration on special projects by developing financial data and reports for use in presentations and reports;
- Performs a variety of routine record keeping tasks, such as the tracking of cellular phone use, incident reports, the collection of data for use in Board meetings and day-to-day office functions.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Accounting or a closely related field, and two years of public or business administration experience including accounting or budgeting; OR
- Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered college with an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Accounting or a closely related field, and four years of public or business administration experience including accounting or budgeting; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six years of public or business administration experience including accounting and budgeting.
