This position involves responsibility for planning, assigning, and supervising major account keeping billing activities and/or independently performing difficult and responsible account keeping functions. This is a specialized financial work of a complex nature involving billing functions as related to revenue sources for BOCES operations. This position may involve preparing various reports and analyses with minimal supervision, as requested by management. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services and may report directly to a Coordinator or Director. Supervision is not a responsibility of this position. Does related work as required.
- Responsible for the periodic billing for BOCES services provided to component school districts, non-component districts, and cross contracts as related;
- Communicates with school district officials, other BOCES, BOCES internal departments, and the State Education Department;
- Responsible for receiving and accounting for large amounts of money in payment for a variety of bills, and related obligations;
- Responsible for the classification of a complex variety of receipts and expenditures and the distribution of costs according to prescribed accounting codes;
- Assists in the preparation of annual operating budgets and ensures the maintenance of necessary financial controls;
- Systematizes, revises and maintains account keeping methods and procedures;
- Compiles, prepares and analyzes a variety of complex financial and statistical records and reports;
- Prepares purchase orders and maintains a varied and complex set of accounting records;
- Responsible for state aid reporting;
- Records and analyzes data for use by management
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration or closely related field, and three (3) years of account-keeping, bookkeeping, accounting or billing experience; OR
- (b) Possession of an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration, or a closely related field, and six (6) years of account-keeping, bookkeeping, accounting or billing experience.
