Number of Positions: 1 (Long-Term Substitute through 6/30/2026)

Work Hours: Monday - Friday ; 8:00A-4:00P

Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls 

The Principal for CTE provides leadership and overall supervision in the management of the campus and for the occupational education programs at the Southern Adirondack Education Center in cooperation with other administrators.

  • Provides instructional leadership and overall supervision for a variety Career and Technical programs, including the delivery of NYSED approved programs, state-wide and local assessments. 
  • Ensures appropriate student assessment procedures in keeping with the NYSED mandates, as well as reviewing assessment results and making proper program adjustments.
  • Develops Students Learning Objectives (SLO) in conjunction with teachers.
  • Provides leadership for all CTE student services functions including: recruitment and marketing, counseling, career centers, master schedule of classes and teachers, data management, and student records. 
  • Provides overall coordination for CTE student leadership activities (e.g. SkillsUSA, Student Council, National Honor Society, etc.) 
  • Implements BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates.
  • Recommends appropriate staffing levels and assigns staff based on enrollment and student needs. 
  • Recommends the employment and retention of instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Conducts professional performance reviews of all instructional and non-instructional staff under his/her supervision, in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review Plan and the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Obtains/maintains lead evaluator certification.
  • Develops and monitors employee improvement plans as necessary.
  • Provides leadership for the continual professional development of all career and technical education staff (individually and groups), to ensure a well-informed staff. 
  • Provides leadership and collaborates with the Curriculum Coordinator and Instructional Administrators to ensure on-going curriculum review and development for continual program improvement, in concert with component school districts and business and industry. 
  • Assures the health, safety and welfare of students and staff, within the framework of BOCES Board Policy, administrative guidelines and emergency management procedures.
  • Coordinates transportation as it relates to the Career and Technical programs, in cooperation with other administrators. 
  • Serves as liaison to component schools and participating agencies as necessary. 
  • Maintains an office that is responsive, efficient and supportive to school districts, staff and students. 
  • Serves as a member of the Instructional Cabinet and CAS. 
Job Qualifications
  • School Building Leader (SBL); or

  • School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS); or

  • School District Administrator (SDA; or

  • New Administrator Certificate
