The Assistive Technologist provides support for students with disabilities by providing direct and indirect support services in the integration and use of assistive technology, devices, and materials. They also provide strategies for students, educational teams, and families.
- Plan appropriate activities for students assigned to caseload
- Create materials and methods, and implement appropriate communication systems for those students requiring that type of intervention;
- Orient students to the activities that are planned and provide for a comprehensive scope and sequence of activities;
- Participate as a meaningful member of the special education team in relation to the students' total program;
- Integrate communication strategies and adapt instructional materials for student access to curriculum within the classroom environment to the maximum extent possible;
- Evaluate and report on student progress at designated intervals according to established procedures;
- Be familiar and cooperate with school policies and regulations;
- Supervise the use and care of materials and equipment;
- Cooperate as fully as possible with professional and non-professional staff members of this organization and other school districts in conjunctive activities;
- Other duties as assigned.
