Salary: $25.50 - $35.00 per hour

Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls and/or F. Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga Springs

Work Hours: Flexible scheduling of evenings and weekends

This is a 96 hour course broken down into four modules (24 hours each) that was designed as an entry level program based on the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF) model for maintenance and light repair. This program is designed to excel entry level technicians with a broad skill set, solid foundation in electrical/electronics, and general understanding of all automotive systems.

Module I: Automotive Shop Safety, Tools and Equipment
This mod provides the opportunity to take a Lift certification

Module II: Engine Fundamentals
This mod provides the opportunity to take the SP2 certification.
Prerequisite: Auto I or written employer recommendation

Module III: Fundamentals of Electricity
This mod provides the opportunity to take Electrical 1, 2 and 3 certifications

Module IV: Steering, Suspension, Brakes and Alignments
This mod provides the opportunity to take a Tire/Wheel certification

  • Responsible for teaching advanced machining using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting.

  • Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students, which prepare students to gain/increase skills in the area of automotive technology.

  • Ensures adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and materials.

  • Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor student’s performance.

  • Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group or individualized instruction as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains.

  • Create a climate that encourages and supports learning.

  • Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records.

  • Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in Auto Technology
