WSWHE BOCES is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our school-based team. The therapist will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and support staff to provide high-quality therapy services that help students develop the skills necessary for success in their educational environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong understanding of school-based therapy, special education laws, and individualized student support plans. 

 

  • Assess students’ fine motor, sensory processing, and self-care skills to determine therapy needs.  
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with each student's IEP.
  • Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to support students’ participation in academic and daily school activities.  
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to modify classroom environments and materials to enhance student success.  
  • Educate school staff and parents on strategies to support students' motor and sensory needs in the classroom.  
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily session notes, assessment results, IEP progress, and other documentation or reports as needed. 
  • Schedule and complete evaluation reports using standardized testing, clinical observations, and parent/teacher reports.
  • Collaborate regularly with teachers, other related service providers, and administration; attend team and staff meetings as required.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Job Qualifications
  • Required:

    • Licensed and currently registered as an Occupational Therapist by the New York State Education Department

  • Preferred:

    • National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

    • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

    • Experience in a pediatric or school-based setting
