The HVAC Instructor is responsible for teaching HVAC theory and hands-on skills to students enrolled in the Career and Technical Education program. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the HVAC field and for industry certification exams.

Implement our comprehensive HVAC-R curriculum that aligns with industry standards;

Provide theoretical and practical instruction in areas such as; HVAC systems, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, and control systems;

Ensure students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills through classroom lectures, hands-on lab activities, and field experiences;

Maintain an understanding of current practices and evolving technologies in the HVAC field;

Evaluate and grade students' class work, labs, quizzes, exams, and practical skills exams;

Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles;

Prepare students for certification exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests;

Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field;

Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community;

Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

Other duties as assigned.

Candidates who do not hold the following certification(s), but have the appropriate industry experience and/or degree are encouraged to apply. All applicant credentials will be reviewed by WSWHE BOCES Regional Certification Officer.

High School Diploma or equivalent;

NYS Career and Technical Education(CTE) certification in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration 7-12 or be eligible for this certificate based on relevant industry experience (4 years minimum or 2 years minimum with related degree).
