Salary: $25.50 - $35  per hour commensurate with experience

Location: F. Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga Springs

Work Hours: Flexible Scheduling

This 100-hour course, divided into four modules (25 hours each) which provide an introduction to the various stages of home building. Topics include residential construction codes and regulations, safety, tool usage, materials selection, and various construction techniques. Participants are eligible to receive OSHA certification upon completion of the course. 

  • Responsible for teaching construction courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting;

  • Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to gain/increase skills in the area of construction;

  • Ensures adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and materials;

  • Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor student’s performance;

  • Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group or individualized instruction as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains;

  • Create a climate that encourages and supports learning;

  • Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records;

  • Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning;

  • Knowledge of adult learner and alternative educational methods and have the ability to apply these methods for adult students;

  • Ability to teach students of diverse abilities and backgrounds;

  • Ability to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;

  • Ability to relate well to different groups of students of different ages and ability levels;

  • Must be computer literate;

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar and usage;

  • Maintain clean and professional classroom environment;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;

  • Demonstrated experience in construction trades;
