Salary: $49,202 - $69,480, commensurate with experience

Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls, NY

Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 - 2:45

The Interactive Media and Game Design Instructor is responsible for developing engaging lessons for students in an approved CTE program, aligned with industry standards.

  • Develop and implement a curriculum that is aligned with industry standards, Common Career

  • Technical Core, and New York State Computer Science Standards.

  • Teach engaging lessons in computer science, game design, coding, animation, and the principles of the gaming industry.

  • Collaborate with integrated academic instructors in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, and digital literacy standards.

  • Assess student learning through projects, assignments, and technical assessments.

  • Develop relationships with industry partners for work-based learning opportunities, guest speakers, and program feedback.

  • Pursue industry certifications for students as applicable.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and technology in the gaming industry;

  • Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data;

  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field;

  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and computer/coding partners in the community;

  • Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Candidates who do not hold the following certifications, but have the appropriate industry experience and/or degree are encouraged to apply.  All applicant credentials will be reviewed by the WSWHE BOCES Regional Certification Officer.

  • NYS Classroom Teacher Certification in Computer Science; or

  • NYS Classroom Teacher Certification in Technology Education; or

  • NYS CTE Certification in Commercial Art; or

  • NYS CTE Certification in Computer Technology; or

  • Eligible for certification based on relevant industry experience (4 years minimum or 2 years minimum with related degree)
